According to The Football Insider, Everton do not expect midfielder, Dele Alli to play another game for the club.
The 26-year-old left the club in the summer to join Turkish side, Besiktas on a season-long loan deal, after only joining the blues in January of last season on a ‘free transfer’ from Tottenham Hotspur on deadline day. [via Football Insider]

He was labelled as an ’emergency signing’ by the media, with him and Donny Van De Beek joining the club on the same day that Frank Lampard was appointed manager. Lampard was clear in interviews prior to Alli’s arrival that midfield reinforcements were a must for his side going into the second half of the season.

Despite this, the Englishman would only go on to start 3 league games for the toffees, less than he managed in the first half of the season for Champions League-chasing Tottenham Hotspur.

Alli’s career started at MK Dons before he got his first big move to White Hart Lane. In his first Premier League season, he got 10 goals and 9 assists, statistics he would go on to smash the year after, getting 18 goals and 7 assists from midfield, numbers that were unheard of for such a young player. He has also won 37 England caps, scoring 3 goals in the process. However, in his last few seasons, his form has decreased dramatically, scoring only 1 goal and getting 1 assist in his last 3 seasons.

Going into the 2022/23 season, it was clear that Lampard’s stance on wanting to improve his side’s midfield had not changed. Although lots of midfielders would eventually leave alongside Alli, such as Fabian Delph, Allan, Andre Gomes and Jean-Phillipe Gbamin, players such as Idrissa Gana Gueye, Amadou Onana and James Garner joined the club bringing a balanced level of youth and experience to the squad, alongside the rejuvenated and repositioned Alex Iwobi.

Besiktas have two buy options in Dele Alli’s contract. One being in January and the other being at the end of the season. Everton seem to be confident that one of these clauses will be activated.
