BREAKING: Everton confirm the sale of Anthony Gordon to Newcastle United

|

Everton have, today, announced the sale of 21-year-old winger Anthony Gordon to Newcastle United for an undisclosed fee believed to be around £45 million.

The toffees are due to announce the appointment of Sean Dyche as their new manager after the sacking of Frank Lampard on Monday evening after a poor run of form of late.

Although, Anthony Gordon had allegedly asked to leave the club around the start of the current season, but was unable to complete a move away from Goodison Park, with Everton’s asking price too high for any potential buyers.

However, the winger stepped up his attempts to leave the club by handing in a transfer request to the Everton board a few days ago and it seems to have worked.

Everton confirmed Gordon’s departure from the club this afternoon after spending 10 years at the club. He made his debut for the club in the Europa League back when he was just 16 years of age [via Evertonfc.com].

The club announced the sale as being for an undisclosed fee, but it is widely believed that the fee is around £45 million after add-ons.

The toffees now must focus on reinvesting the money that they have gained from Gordon’s sale to bolster their squad.

Sean Dyche has a huge job on his hands trying to keep his side in the Premier League this season. But this fresh injection of funds into potential transfers will likely help his efforts.
