Everton agree massive fee for Anthony Gordon despite handing in a transfer request

|

Everton have agreed a massive fee of around £45 million for Anthony Gordon despite the Englishman sending in a transfer request in hopes of leaving the club, according to recent reports

Despite sitting firmly in the relegation zone with less than half of the Premier League season left the play, Everton have been severely inactive during the January transfer window.

The toffees looked set to complete the signing of Arnaut Danjuma on a loan deal from Spanish side Villareal.

However, the day before the club were due to announce it, Tottenham Hotspur managed to hijack the deal, meaning the Dutchman, instead, made the move to London.

Despite being inactive for so long in the window, we could finally be seeing some activity from the Everton camp given recent news.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle United have reached a full agreement with Everton over the transfer of Anthony Gordon. The initial fee is around £40 million, with add-ons taking the deal up to around £45 million.

Anthony Gordon was one of Everton’s most important players in their late fight for Premier League survival last season but has been far from impressive so far this season.

He has only managed to score 3 goals in 16 appearances this season so for £45 million it seems an offer that Everton simply could not refuse.

Everton now must focus on spending the money that they have earned from the sale to bolster their squad in what is left of the January transfer window.
