Report: Roma may have to pay £24.56m and £2.76m-a-year in wages to sign Everton striker

According to Calciomercato, AS Roma are interested in Moise Kean and could make a move for the Everton striker this summer. Kean has an uncertain future at Goodison Park after underperforming in his debut season, but he may be too expensive for the Giallorossi.

Calciomercato say Everton want in excess of (€28) £24.56m for the £53k-per-week striker, but Roma would prefer a loan move with an obligation to buy. Kean still has four years remaining on his deal, but he could be moved on given Everton have been linked with a number of strikers – Hirving Lozano, Andrea Belotti, Martin Braithwaite, Odsonne Edouard.

Which club did Everton loan Cenk Tosun out to in January?

The 20-year-old was signed from Juventus last summer and has gone on to make 26 appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal and making two assists. Despite featuring in a lot of games, Kean only amassed 674 minutes of Premier League football due to Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison being ahead of the striker in the pecking order.

Carlo Ancelotti is believed to be a fan of Kean’s, but he wasn’t afraid to leave him before the season was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic – the Italian international started only five league games in his debut season and racked up 242 of top-flight football in 2020.

With Calvert-Lewin scoring 15 goals while Richarlison netted 12, Ancelotti had no choice but to stick with his most prolific forwards.

It remains to be seen whether Roma’s alleged interest in Kean will lead to an official approach, but it wouldn’t be a shock if Everton were open to letting him go.
