Charlie Nicholas says Odsonne Edouard is “more suitable to Everton” than Arsenal. The 22-year-old has been in fantastic form at Celtic and could be set for a big-money move to a European club this summer.

Everton have Richarlison, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Moise Kean in attack, but the Toffees are interested in Edouard and could battle Arsenal to procure his signature. Nicholas believes he’s better off joining the Merseysiders too.

Which club did Everton loan Cenk Tosun out to in January?

He told Sky Sports: “He could be more suitable to Everton if they build their team in the right way. I have watched them quite a bit this season. Dominic Calvert-Lewin has had a purple patch but Edouard is a better technical player.

“He’s got more about him than Calvert-Lewin and there’s no doubt in my mind he would be a very good buy for someone.” Edouard initially joined Celtic on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in 2017 and turned the move permanent in 2018.

The 22-year-old gone on to make 126 appearances in all competitions, scoring 60 goals and making 31 assists. Edouard was prolific before the season was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic too, scoring 27 goals and making 19 assists in 45 games across the board.

It’s no surprise he’s popped up on the radar of many clubs, but it remains to be seen where he’ll end up. Everton aren’t short of strikers but could be offloading Oumar Niasse and Cenk Tosun in the coming months, so it makes sense to offset the loss with one new face this summer.

Since leaving PSG, Edouard has become one of the most prolific young strikers in Europe. Everton could be signing a gem if they win the race for his signature.
