Report: Huddersfield interested in Everton midfielder, future could be resolved in July

|

According to Phil Kirkbride of the Liverpool Echo, Huddersfield Town are interested in Kieran Dowell and could battle Sheffield United for his signature this summer. Dowell has an uncertain future at Everton due to a lack of playing time, but the report says he won’t make a decision until Euro 2019 finishes on June 30.

The 21-year-old rose through the youth ranks to the Everton first-team in 2017 and has gone on to make five appearances in all competitions. Dowell’s lack of minutes in the senior squad has led to loan moves away to Nottingham Forest (August 3, 2017 – May 31, 2018) and Sheffield United (January 2, 2019 – May 31, 2019).

He impressed in Sheffield and now has the Blades looking to sign him again for next season. Huddersfield appear willing to hijack United’s interest too. Although Dowell signed a new deal at Everton nine months ago that will keep him at Goodison Park until 2021, he could consider leaving this summer.

As things stand, Tom Davies, Idrissa Gueye and Morgan Schneiderlin are all ahead of the England u21 international in the pecking order, meaning chances under Marco Silva could be few and far between in 2019/20.
