No league goal in 2020, injury problems in Jan, February, March – Everton should avoid 22 y/o

Everton are expected to sign a new centre-forward this summer, having already been linked with Torino’s Andrea Belotti, Napoli’s Hirving Lozano and Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard.

Another player the Toffees have been recently linked with is Emmanuel Dennis, but it remains to be seen if they’ll make a move for the 22-year-old, as he’s not been the most prolific and won’t be cheap to sign.

Which club did Everton loan Cenk Tosun out to in January?

According to Walfoot, Everton are keen on Dennis and may have to battle Crystal Palace, Betis Seville, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Manchester United, Arsenal, Everton, Leicester City, Newcastle, Brighton, Sheffield United, Watford, AS Monaco, Sampdoria and Borussia Dortmund to procure his signature.

The Nigerian international joined Club Brugge in 2017 and has gone on to make 103 appearances in all competitions, scoring 28 goals and making 10 assists. Dennis is a regular at the Jan Breydel Stadium, but his output has been poor in 2019/20 – five goals in 20 First Division A games, as per Transfermarkt.

He’s failed to ripple the back of the net in 2020 and has struggled with a number of injuries since the turn of the year – Dennis had a knee injury in January, was sidelined in February with a muscle injury and had an ankle injury in March.

Walfoot say it may take a bid of £25m for Everton to bring Dennis to Goodison Park, but they may be better off turning their attentions elsewhere.
