Everton host Manchester United at 19:00 this evening live on BT Sports, with the hosts going into the game on the back of consecutive wins for only the second time under Frank Lampard. The last time Everton won three in a row was under Carlo Ancelotti when his Everton side won 2-0 at Liverpool, 1-0 at home to Southampton and 1-0 away at West Brom.

Manchester United come off the back of a 3-2 win away in Cyprus over Omonia Nicosia on Thursday night, this coming after a 6-3 drubbing to Manchester rivals Manchester City last Sunday.

For the hosts, Dominic Calvert-Lewin is back and is in contention to get his first start of the season, whilst centre-backs Mason Holgate and Yerry Mina who have been out since the start of the season, are back in training. James Garner who is yet to make his debut for Everton since his summer move from Manchester United has impressed during training and could make his debut this evening.

After coming from behind last weekend at Southampton, Everton will hope to continue their good form and if they manage to score 2 goals they will become the seventh club to score 1,500 Premier League goals.

Everton’s last loss to Manchester United in the league was at Goodison Park in November 2020 when the visitors won 3-1. Anthony Martial who scored two in the 6-3 defeat at Manchester City last weekend and got one in the Europa League on Thursday, has an impressive record against Everton, scoring 5 in all competitions against the toffees.

How will Everton line up?

We shouldn’t expect many if any changes from last weekend’s win at Southampton. Anthony Gordon was dropped to the bench last weekend due to illness so he could return to the starting lineup for either Dwight McNeil or Demarai Gray, whilst the main question will be if Dominic Calvert-Lewin is given his first start of the season with Frank Lampard saying this in his press conference on Friday.

“Yes, he’s in contention. We’ll have to see how match-fit he is but in terms of the injury, he’s better.”LiverpoolEcho

If you were Frank Lampard, would you start Calvert-Lewin or would you ease him back into the first team?
