Has Kevin Thelwell produced the signing of the next transfer window already?

Since becoming Everton’s DoF (Director of Football) in February, Evertonians had a close eye on Kevin Thelwell’s summer dealings, and with injuries in defence on the opening day of the season, that meant reinforcements in defence were needed ASAP.

After losing Ben Godfrey and Yerry Mina in the opening game, that left Mason Holgate (now injured), Michael Keane and summer signing James Tarkowski as the club’s only central defenders. Kevin Thelwell turned to his former club Wolves and with the news that Bruno Lage did not see club captain Conor Coady in his plans, Thelwell got the England international on the phone with Frank Lampard and 48 hours after the full-time whistle was blown in the 1-0 defeat to Chelsea, Conor Coady signed on a season long.

Yesterday, John Percy reported that Everton can sign the defender for a fee as little as £4.5M with further clauses in the fee that will be paid if Coady reaches performance-related targets.

Since making his debut for Everton in the 2-1 defeat at Aston Villa, Coady has played every minute, captaining the club vs West Ham, getting on the scoresheet in the win over Southampton at the weekend and alongside James Tarkowski in defence, Everton now holds the best defensive record in the league so far this season.

Should Conor Coady be signed on a permanent?

No

No

When the news broke that Conor Coady was joining the club, for some Evertonians, myself included. All I could see was “Agent Coady” getting branded at every chance possible by a certain fan base but after his goal against them. Clearly, his alliance with the other team in the city is now non-existent. (How I wish he was onside)
