Everton suffered a narrow defeat against Manchester United in Sunday’s late kick-off and fans were left frustrated by incidents that occurred during the match.

The Red Devils took the lead in the first half after Paul Pogba’s penalty, won in controversial circumstances by Anthony Martial before the France forward doubled United’s lead after the break – meaning Gylfi Sigurdsson’s effort from the spot was merely a consolation.

Fans on social media were furious at the referee’s decision to award a spot-kick to United after what appeared to be a superb challenge from Idrissa Gueye and did not hold back with their thoughts on the matter on social media.

Responding to the club’s official Twitter account during the Toffees’ update of the first half at Old Trafford, Everton fans made their frustrations clear as they were adamant that the decision awarded to the home side was not correct.
