Mohamed-Ali Cho signed for Everton at the age of 11, moving from Paris Saint-Germain’s academy when his family moved back to England.

Cho was born in France, but his parents moved to England when he was just one week old, going to work in London. He spent much of his early life moving between France and England a number of times.

He joined his first academy side whilst living back in France, joining Chantilly before being scouted by Paris Saint-Germain.

His family would move back to England in 2015, leading to Everton picking up the youngster.

Cho would spend 5 years on Merseyside, but at the age of 16, due to a lack of first-team experience and little experience in the u23 setup either, he decided to leave the club in order to pursue a new challenge.

Despite playing two games for England u16, the attacker has chosen to represent France at an international level, making his French u21 debut in 2021 at the age of just 17.

After leaving the blues at the end of his contract in 2020, the franchman joined Ligue 1 outfit, Angers at the age of just 16. After impressing for the Angers B team, he was offered his first professional contract by the club, becoming just the second youngest player to sign a professional contract in France, behind Eduardo Camavinga, who recently joined Champions League winners, Real Madrid.

Cho’s career in France was a major success, leading to him being labelled as one of the best young players in Europe, even bring nominated for the Golden Boy award. His good form in France led to La Liga side, Real Sociedad completing the signing of the attacker for around £12 million, on a 5-year-deal.

Although he is yet to score a goal for the La Liga giants, he is showing some evidence of why the club splashed the cash to bring him to Spain. With Frank Lampard’s side currently not very heavy in the attacking department,  the introduction of a player like Ali Cho could have benefited his side tremendously.

Is this an opportunity missed for the blues?
