According to reports, Everton are ‘Very Interested’ in Canadian forward, Jonathan David.

Florian Plettenberg has reported that Everton are very interested in LOSC Lille’s Jonathan David and will look to sign the forward in 2023, however, there has been no concrete offer for the 22-year-old put in by the blues as of yet. Lille, however, will reportedly ask for over €50 million for his signature [via Plettigoal – twitter]

David signed for Lille for a reported fee of around £22 million from Belgian side, KAA Genk after scoring 18 league goals during the 2019/20 season and earning himself the club’s Player of the Year award.

The 22-year-old also has 30 caps for the Canadian national team, already scoring 20 goals for his country, remarkable numbers for a player that made his national team debut at the age of 18.

His three seasons so far in France have been equally as good, scoring 28 league goals in the last two seasons in Ligue 1 and already having bagged 9 goals and a further 2 assists in his first 11 league games this season.

His recent form has led to recent reports linking him to recent Champions League winners, Real Madrid and Chelsea.

Jeunesfooteux have reported that Chelsea are looking to sign the Canadian in January in order to bolster their attacking options, but see Lille’s price tag for the attacker as far below their valuation, making a deal quite unlikely at this stage [via TheHardTackle].

Former Everton manager, Carlo Ancelotti has reportedly ‘set his sights’ on signing Jonathan David from LOSC Lille and Los Blancos believe that a bid of around £52 million would be enough to prize the attacker away from France [via SportsMole].

Everton’s lack of goals so far in the Premier League season does show their lack of depth in attacking reinforcements, so the introduction of a quality player like Jonathan David with the versatility he has could bring a lot to Frank Lampard’s squad. However, the club’s recent issues with Financial Fair Play could hold them back in trying to complete a deal for the 22-year-old.
