After announcing our fifth signing of the summer yesterday, we are still in the market for a striker. We lost Richarlison at the end of June and are yet to replace the Brazilian.

However last night, former Everton Director of Communications and Head of Media, Alan Myers took to Twitter to update Everton fans about another name that has been added to Everton’s striker list.

Viktor Gyökeres is a Swedish striker who is currently playing for Championship side Coventry City. Standing as 6’1″, he primarily plays as the main striker for Coventry and scored 18 goals in 47 appearances in all competitions last season.

On the opening day of the season, he scored this sublime equaliser away at Sunderland.

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin suffering an injury in training before Chelsea last week, we now only have Saloman Rondon as our only recognised striker, this after loaning both Ellis Simms and Lewis Dobbin out to Sunderland and Derby County.

Last season, Calvert-Lewin missed most of the season and Richarlison only found his scoring boots once Frank Lampard was appointed manager in January. Since the sale of Richarlison, we have been linked with Michy Batshuayi, Alassane Pléa and Armando Broja, but no offers have been made for any of these strikers.

Against Chelsea, Rondon was suspended and with Calvert-Lewin’s current injury record we cannot rely on him being our saviour. Rondon who turns 33 next month only managed 1 goal in the league last season and is most definitely not a suitable backup for Calvert-Lewin.

Do you think Thelwell and Lampard should take a risk on Gyökeres? Or should we try and look at other targets?
