Boost for Marco Silva as 31-year-old Everton man ‘returns’ ahead of Brighton clash

|

Yerry Mina could miss Everton’s Premier League meeting with Brighton due to injury, but Marco Silva will welcome back one defender ahead of Saturday’s meeting – Seamus Coleman. As per BBC Sport, the 31-year-old ‘returns’ from suspension and will be available for selection.

Coleman was sent off in Everton’s 1-0 defeat to Burnley (October 5) and missed last Saturday’s 2-0 win over West Ham United. He’s now back in time to face Brighton but may not return to the starting lineup. Djibril Sidibe impressed at right-back and is likely to keep his place as a result.

Coleman has started in eight of Everton’s nine league games this season, captaining the side for seven of them, but he’s not guaranteed a spot in the side. The Republic of Ireland international has been inconsistent in 2019/20 and may have a tough task to dethrone the impressive Sidibe.

After Everton ended their four-game losing run with victory over West Ham, Silva won’t make unenforced changes to his side. He’s already having to consider Holgate for Mina and can’t afford another alteration to the backline. It’s still good for Silva to have Coleman as an option, however.
