Youngster to leave Everton

|

Everton have confirmed in their 2019/20 retained list that Kieran Phillips will leave when he returns from his loan deal at Huddersfield Town. The 20-year-old has failed to make a first-team appearance at Everton and hasn’t nailed down a regular place with the U23s, so his departure isn’t a big shock. He’s also not the only player being axed from the reserves either.

Which club did Everton loan Cenk Tosun out to in January?

Phillips joined Everton U13s from Huddersfield Town and has gone on to make 11 appearances for the U18s, scoring 12 goals, and one appearance for the U23s. The prolific striker has struggled to make the step up from youth football, so he was never going to dethrone Richarlison, Moise Kean and Dominic Calvert-Lewin this season.

He was loaned out to Huddersfield’s academy in January after a successful trial, but it remains to be seen where he’ll end up this summer. Phillips could be on the radar of other Championship clubs if he has Huddersfield’s attention, so he should land on his feet after leaving Everton.

The Terriers rate him highly and wanted to re-sign Phillips for a while before getting him back in January, so Town may be his next destination.
