Everton have confirmed that Oumar Niasse will leave at the end of his contract this summer. The 30-year-old is coming to the end of a four-year deal and will become a free agent in July. Niasse has struggled for form and playing time at Goodison Park, so a departure has been on the cards for a while. The out-of-favour striker has been on the periphery since 2018 but Everton haven’t managed to find a suitor.

Which club did Everton loan Cenk Tosun out to in January?

Niasse joined the Toffees from Lokomotiv Moscow in 2016 and has gone on to make 42 appearances in all competitions, scoring nine goals and making four assists. He hasn’t found the back of the net at senior level since May 2018 and has only amassed 19 minutes of football this season, so Niasse’s days have been numbered for a while.

The 30-year-old set Everton back more than £16m and has earned £2.86m-a-year/£55k-a-week without ever justifying the money spent, so he’ll go down as one expensive flop. Niasse has fallen behind Richarlison, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Moise Kean in the pecking order, but clubs haven’t been keen to procure his signature due to his poor form so Everton have been stuck with him until now.
