Everton may have just been handed a huge boost in their pursuit of Napoli winger Hirving Lozano.

According to Corriere del Mezzogiorno, via Sport Witness, the 24-year-old has told his agent, the infamous Mino Raiola, to find him a new club this summer as he tries to push towards the exit door at the Stadio San Paolo less than a year after first joining.

Carlo Ancelotti’s former side paid a club-record €46.5m (£42m) for the Mexican last summer and he’s struggled to make much of an impact, especially since Gennaro Gattuso took over from the Italian.

Should Everton splash the cash on Lozano?

No thanks!

The Italian newspaper goes on to claim that Lozano was kicked out of training last week, thus prompting these fresh developments and surely this opens the door for the Toffees to swoop in and land him.

After all, he’s not just a player well-known to Ancelotti but to director of football Marcel Brands, too.

The Dutchman once described the former PSV wide man as “very explosive” and “agile” – even comparing him to Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi. A very glowing endorsement indeed.

Lozano has only been able to produce four goals and two assists from a total of 1,466 minutes all season, but he enjoyed a very impressive 2018/19 season in the Eredivisie.

Who did Everton sell Nikola Vlasic to in July 2019?

Per Transfermarkt, the versatile forward racked up 21 goals and 12 assists from 40 appearances in all competitions, which also included a goal against Spurs in the Champions League.

But how much might Lozano cost Brands and co? That much remains to be seen so far. However, according to Corriere dello Sport via the Daily Mail, the Serie A outfit may command around £43m.

What do you think of these developments? Should Everton push to land the winger this summer?

On loan, with an option to buy, great, if he delivers, fine, but if not we don’t get stuck with a player who cannot get in the side, but on on a long expensive contract.
