According to Globo Esporte, Everton are interested in Everton Soares and could battle Borussia Dortmund to procure the 24-year-old’s signature. Everton joined Gremio from Fortaleza in 2013 and has gone on to make 179 appearances in all competitions, scoring 47 goals and making 17 assists.
The Brazilian international’s club form over the last three years has put himself on the radar of many clubs in Europe – 32 Serie A appearances, eight goals and five assists in 2017, 28 Serie A appearances, 10 goals and three assists in 2018, 30 Serie A appearances, 11 goals and five assists in 2019, as per Transfermarkt.
Despite Everton having Richarlison, Alex Iwobi, Bernard and Theo Walcott at their disposal, Carlo Ancelotti on may have a need for another wide-man. Walcott has an uncertain future at Goodison Park while Bernard was reportedly offered out to AS Roma.
Bernard operates in the same position on the left flank as Everton Soares, so Gremio’s 24 y/o would be a like-for-like replacement this summer. But whether they can beat Dortmund to his signature remains to be seen. Globo Esporte say the German outfit have €150m to spend this summer, so they may be able to blow Everton out of the water financially.
The Toffees have been linked with Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard and RB Leipzig’s Jonathan David in recent weeks, but it remains to be seen who they eventually bring in to strengthen the squad. Vital Everton suggested that Nabil Fekir should be on their radar, but there’s no indication they’re considering a move currently.
