According to the Metro, Everton remain interested in Jesse Lingard who has an uncertain future at Manchester United this summer. The 27-year-old has struggled for form and playing time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer since the turn of the year and could be moved on in the coming months.
The Metro say Lingard is keen to stay at Old Trafford, so he’d need some convincing to make the switch elsewhere. The England international joined United’s academy at the age of seven and has gone on to make 202 appearances in all competitions, scoring 31 goals and making 20 assists.
Lingard’s form has wavered in the last 18 months, however, and it’s cost him a place in the starting lineup. As per Transfermarkt, the 27-year-old has scored only three goals in all competitions since December 2018 and has made just four assists in this time too.
As per WhoScored, Lingard made 20 Premier League appearances before the season was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, failing to score or make an assist. He’s racked up less than 900 minutes of playing time in the league too.
But despite finding himself behind Juan Mata and Daniel James in the pecking order, Lingard wants to fight for his place next season rather than leave. He wouldn’t come cheap to sign either, with the Metro saying his asking price is £30m while his salary is £110k-per-week/£5.72m-a-year.
Everton have been linked with the likes of RB Leipzig’s Jonathan David, Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha and Santos’ Yeferson Soteldo, so it’s surprising that Lingard would be on their radar.
Do not sign not good enough and lazy player goes missing got enough ther now.
