Report: Everton ‘most motivated’ to sign 22 y/o with 78% dribble success rate

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Everton are ‘most motivated’ to sign Cengiz Under this summer but may have to battle Tottenham Hotspur to procure his signature.

Bernard has reportedly been offered to AS Roma while Theo Walcott has an uncertain future and may be sold in the coming months, so Under could offset the loss of the duo.

Which club did Everton loan Cenk Tosun out to in January?

The 22-year-old has been short of form and playing time this season which raises uncertainty over his future at the Stadio Olimpico. As per Transfermarkt, Under has made 20 appearances in all competitions but he was substituted on or substituted off 16 times – 80% of his games.

As per WhoScored, Under has made 15 Serie A appearances, scored three goals, created 24 chances, whipped in 39 crosses with 30.8% finding a teammate, won 62.5% of his aerial duels, made 29 successful dribbles (78%), had 25 shots with 32% accuracy and won 14 free-kicks.

His goal output has been low this season, but the Turkish international impressed enough in 2018/19 (26 Serie A appearances, three goals, seven assists) to be given the benefit of the doubt by suitors. In the 17 league starts Under had last season, he had a hand in 10 goals, as per WhoScored.

Everton may be planning for life without Bernard and Walcott based on recent transfer rumours. The Toffees have been linked with a move for Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard and Gremio’s Everton Soares, but it remains to be seen who will come through the doors in the coming months.
