Beni Baningime looks resigned to playing reserve-team football at Everton unless he can get himself a temporary move away when the January transfer window opens. He looked set to join Brondby over the summer before the deal collapsed, leaving him on the periphery at Goodison Park.

The 21-year-old has made 12 appearances in all competitions since rising through the Everton youth ranks, but he’s amassed a paltry 552 minutes of playing time and Transfermarkt says he hasn’t featured since April 14, 2018 – against Swansea City.

With Jean-Philippe Gbamin, Andre Gomes, Fabian Delph, Morgan Schneiderlin and Tom Davies ahead of him in the pecking order, it’s hard to see Baningime getting many opportunities under Marco Silva.

The central midfielder is also registered as an u23 player on Everton’s official website, which suggests he’s no longer training with the first-team – Baningime has made three Premier League 2 appearances this season.

He embarked upon a loan move to Wigan in 2018/19 for more opportunities, but the 21-year-old made just one appearance and spent the remainder of the campaign sidelined.

Baningime still has three years remaining on his contract, but his long-term future at Everton is in doubt. A loan move will be essential to get first-team football and prove his worth, so January will be an important month.
