According to the Football Insider, Beni Baningime looks ‘set to remain’ at Everton after his proposed loan move to Brondby ‘collapsed’. The 20-year-old was initially on his way out of Goodison Park due to stiff competition for places, but he might have to reside in the reserves until January.

Baningime travelled to Denmark for talks with Brondby with a view to agreeing a deal before the summer transfer window shut. The move broke down, but Football Insider don’t disclose the reason why. Nevertheless, the uncapped DR Congo midfielder will now have to stay on Merseyside.

With Andre Gomes, Fabian Delph, Tom Davies, Morgan Schneiderlin and Jean-Philippe Gbamin for competition in the engine room, Baningime has little chance of getting minutes under Marco Silva. He’s made 12 appearances since his Everton debut on October 25, 2017, but his last outing came 14 months ago.

Baningime spent the second half of last season on loan at Wigan Athletic (January 31, 2019 – May 31, 2019), making just one appearance, so it’s hardly a surprise he’s so low in the pecking order. There are still four days remaining of the overseas transfer window, but time is running out to find a suitor.
