Opinion: Latest Everton departure proves Carlo Ancelotti trusts £53k-per-week man

|

Cenk Tosun joined Crystal Palace on loan until the end of the season after struggling for playing time at Everton – a move that shows how much faith Carlo Ancelotti has in Moise Kean. The 19-year-old is now directly behind Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the pecking order and should get more playing time in the second half of the campaign.

Kean has made 20 appearances in all competitions, but he’s amassed only 646 minutes of football. The Italian international has started only three Premier League games, one FA Cup match and one EFL Cup outing. Kean didn’t play a single minute of league football between October 20 and November 31, but he’s been a more familiar face of late.

The teenager has featured in seven of Everton’s last eight league outings and should rack up more playing time now Tosun has left. More minutes on the pitch should lead to Kean finally opening his account for the Toffees. Everton welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to Goodison Park on Saturday, but Ancelotti may name the £53k-per-week striker on the bench.

Calvert-Lewin has been a regular in attack and should keep his place against the Seagulls.
