Many Everton fans have been reacting on social media, after Anthony Gordon shared some shots of himself in training at Finch Farm ahead of the club’s Premier League meeting with Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.

Gordon was given his first action in the senior fold since 2017 when we lost on penalties to Leicester City in the Carabao Cup last month, with interim head coach Duncan Ferguson calling on the 18-year-old to play the final six minutes of regular time.

The £1.35m-rated Liverpool-born midfielder made his Toffees debut as we beat Apollon Limassol 3-0 during a Europa League tie two years ago, though was only on the field for two minutes with Sam Allardyce’s side already holding a commanding lead after goals from Ademola Lookman and Nikola Vlasic.

He has since been named among the substitutes for four Premier League fixtures, twice under Marco Silva and once under Ferguson and Carlo Ancelotti respectively.

Should Gordon feature vs Brighton?

Yes, should start him

Yes, but from the bench

Yes, but from the bench

No, he isn't ready

Some fans would now love to see Ancelotti hand Gordon his Premier League bow when we face Brighton at Goodison Park on Saturday, after the England U19 international shared images of himself training at Finch Farm ahead of the match.

We go into our meeting with Brighton on Saturday a point above the Seagulls, as Graham Potter’s Amex Stadium natives have taken just two wins in their last ten matches.

They are unbeaten in their last two Premier League games, however, while we are on a run of two defeats in all competitions having been unbeaten in our previous six during regular time.

Here are some of the messages shared as fans reacted to Gordon’s post on Twitter…

In other Everton news, the club have been offered the chance to sign a £4.5m-rated midfielder during the January window.
