Opinion: Everton may have to pay £20m and £0.88m-a-year in wages to sign 24 y/o

With Oumar Niasse, Sandro Ramirez, Cenk Tosun and Moise Kean linked with moves away from Everton this summer, the Toffees may be in need of a striker ahead of next season.

Everton have been linked with Hirving Lozano, Martin Braithwaite, Odsonne Edouard, Andrea Belotti, Sardar Azmoun and Victor Osimhen, but they’re also showing an interest in Hee-chan Hwang.

Liverpool Echo said earlier this month that the 24-year-old is on Everton’s radar and is coming off the back of a prolific season at Red Bull Salzburg – 29 games, 13 goals, 16 assists.

Hwang joined the Austrian outfit from FC Liefering in 2016 and has gone on to make 115 appearances in all competitions, scoring 42 goals and making 23 assists.

Carlo Ancelotti has Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin in attack, but he’ll find a place for Hwang as he can play anywhere across the frontline.

The Sun say the South Korean international has a £20m release clause while Playerswiki say his wages are €0.98m-a-year (£0.88m-a-year) €19k-per-week (£16.98k-per-week).

Hwang won’t break the bank to sign, but he’s likely to have a lot of suitors, so Everton will have competition to bring him to England.
