Opinion: Everton have a big problem with Cenk Tosun, latest report is a lie

|

Cenk Tosun has an uncertain future at Everton. The 27-year-old has struggled for form and playing time this season and is expected to leave if a club meets his asking price. Tosun will likely be replaced in the summer transfer market, but Besiktas may not be the club to sign him.

According to Fotomac (h/t Sport Witness), Besiktas want to re-sign Tosun on loan for next season and attach a buying option to make his move permanent in the summer of 2020. However, Besiktas may not have the money to procure his signature permanently given how much Everton are requesting.

The Blues want £20m for Tosun, but Besiktas haven’t paid more than £7m for one player. Rodrigo Tabata remains their most expensive signing – £7.2m from Gaziantepspor in 2009/10. The Turkish Super Lig side haven’t spent £20m in one transfer window since 2009/10, so why would they bring in Tosun for so much money?

The 27-year-old has been in poor form this season, scoring three goals in 28 games in all competitions. Tosun has racked up just 41 minutes of Premier League football in the last three months too. Besiktas could sign the striker on loan, but Fotomac suggesting a buying option will be agreed is a lie. They won’t spent their entire transfer budget on one player.
