‘Ridiculous’, ‘We don’t exist’ – Lots of Everton fans react as Toffees are overlooked

Lots of Everton fans have been reacting on social media after the contenders for the Premier League’s April Goal of the Month Award were announced, and the shortlist did not feature a single effort by a Toffees player.

It’s not like April was a month sparse of great strikers by some of our players, as Richarlison scored that wonderful acrobatic volley against Manchester United, which sparked a resounding result against the Champions League hopefuls.

Lucas Digne also scored a sublime half-volley in the same match, as the French left-back set himself on the edge of the Red Devils’ box, before blasting the ball through the crowded penalty area.

The other side of Stanley Park saw Mohamed Salah’s strike against Chelsea put forward for the award, while Eden Hazard’s opener against West Ham and Gonzalo Higuain’s strike against Burnley to put the Pensioners 2-1 up were also included. As was Christian Eriksen’s winner for Tottenham at home to Brighton on April 23.

Will Hughes’ goal for Watford against Fulham, Nathaniel Mendez-Liang’s strike at Brighton for Cardiff, Dan Gosling’s initial equaliser for Bournemouth against Southampton, and Ryan Babel’s winner for the Cottagers at home to the Bluebirds, meanwhile, were the only efforts for players representing sides outside of the top six.

When the official Everton Twitter account shared that none of our goals had been nominated, this is what some of the fanbase made of it…
