Official: Everton striker is ‘fit to face’ Norwich City

|

Marco Silva confirmed in Everton’s pre-match press conference that Cenk Tosun will be ‘fit to face’ Norwich City on Saturday afternoon.

The 28-year-old had a groin injury that kept him out of action during the international break, forcing him to miss Turkey’s 0-0 draw with Iceland (November 14) and 2-0 win over Andorra (November 17). He’s available for selection, however, and could keep his place in the starting lineup.

Who is our best striker currently?

Moise Kean

Cenk Tosun

Calvert-Lewin

Richarlison

Tosun has made five appearances in all competitions, scoring and creating three goals. He came off the bench in Everton’s 4-2 win over Lincoln City (August 28), 2-0 win over Sheffield United (September 21), 2-0 win over Watford (October 29) and 1-1 draw with Tottenham (November 3).

And after scoring against Spurs, the centre-forward started in the Toffees’ 2-1 win over Southampton (November 9). Silva had Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison and Moise Kean to call upon in Tosun’s stead, but he may give the 28-year-old another opportunity to prove himself.

Despite having an uncertain future, Tosun has been fighting for his place at Everton. Silva has clearly been impressed with his efforts and has rewarded him with a surprise recall. Time will tell if he’s vindicated against Norwich.
