Report: Struggling Euro side eye January deal for $15m long-time Everton target

|

AC Milan are eying a January deal for long-time Everton target Adolfo Gaich, according to Calciomercato.

The Serie A side have heavily struggled this season and host SSC Napoli at the San Siro on Saturday evening just four points above the relegation places, having taken one win in their last five league games.

One of the key issues behind the Rossoneri’s dire form has been their lacklustre efforts in front of the net, with AC only hitting home 11 goals in the 12 top-flight games played under former head coach Marco Giampaolo and his successor Stefano Pioli thus far this season.

Milan are now eying January deals for a striker to arrive in the winter market, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic their priority target at present following his departure from MLS side LA Galaxy at the end of his contract.

Rossoneri Chief Football Officer Zvone Boban has expressed his desires to land the Swede to super-agent Mino Raiola during a recent summit, where he proposed an 18-month contract although there is still some distance between the two parties in terms of figures.

Ibrahimovic has also not yet decided if he wishes to return to the San Siro, leading Milan chiefs to consider alternatives such as Real Madrid’s Mariano Diaz and Brahim Diaz, our summer signing Moise Kean and San Lorenzo’s Gaich.

It is not currently noted who AC’s priority target would be, with some options still under wraps, but a move for Gaich could pit the Rossoneri against us in a battle for the 20-year-old’s signature.

We were recently credited with renewed interest in the Argentine prospect, having been linked with his services during the summer after he shone at the U20 World Cup.

Gaich hit three goals in four games at the tournament, and was handed his senior Argentina debut in September when he came off the bench in a 4-0 win over Mexico.

Should Everton sign Gaich?

Yes

No

It was claimed back in the summer that our Director of Football Marcel Brands had initiated preliminary contact with Gaich’s current club San Lorenzo over a potential transfer.

Any move could set an interested side back $15million (£11.6m) due to his release clause, with Gaich contracted to San Lorenzo until the summer of 2021.

Gaich has featured in six Argentine first-division games this season, starting twice, for a total of 203 minutes and scored his first goal of the term last time out in a 3-0 win over Argentinos Juniors.
