Ashley Williams was released by Everton this summer and has been linked with a move to Sheffield United – news which has not gone down well with supporters.
The Premier League newcomers want experience in their defence and have turned to the 34-year-old to provide that. Fans, however, believe Williams is no longer good enough for the top-flight and took to social media to deride the report.

The Welsh international joined Everton from Swansea City in 2016 and made a total of 73 appearances in all competitions. Williams’ last outing came against Burnley on March 3, 2018. The following summer say him fall down the pecking order to Kurt Zouma, Phil Jagielka, Michael Keane and Yerry Mina.
Williams was out of favour at Everton last summer and was sent away on loan for the final year of his contract. He made 37 appearances for Stoke City in the Championship and led the Potters to 16th in the table.
Despite previous reports linking him with a move to the MLS, the 34-year-old could be set to make a surprise return to the Premier League with the newly-promoted Blades. Some supporters are hoping the deal don’t go through, however.
