Late yesterday evening Everton confirmed that centre-half Ashley Williams had completed a season-long loan spell out to Stoke City.

The Welsh international skipper had been linked with a move to the Potteries for the last week and a bit and the 33-year-old will be pleased to get his immediate future sorted given his switch to Goodison Park certainly hasn’t gone how he would’ve liked, and definitely not how fans would’ve hoped.
He departs for the campaign of 2018/19 having made 73 appearances in total for the club following his arrival back in August 2016 for an undisclosed but expensive fee from Swansea City. In that time he returned three goals.
Having helped Everton to 13 clean sheets in his debut season, things really went against him last season when anger intensified for a whole host of reasons and he’s simply been unable to win fans back over so gaining a fresh start is probably in everyone’s interests.
As fans took to social media to respond to the news, he had his critics and also his supporters.
I can’t have been the only one to notice the blatant flirting that took place either can I? It was more interesting than the rest of the comments to be fair!
