No goal or assist since January, previous bid rejected – Everton finally give up on 26 y/o

Italy's Andrea Belotti during training ahead of Euro 2020 Qualifier

According to Tuttosport via Sport Witness, Everton are turning their attentions away from Andrea Belotti, as Carlo Ancelotti’s interest in the 26-year-old is yet to ‘find confirmation’.

The Toffees are on the hunt for an experienced centre-forward who can make an instant impact next season, but after having a €45m bid rejected in January and the Italian international struggling for form in 2020, it doesn’t look like Belotti will be on his way to Goodison Park.

The 26-year-old joined Torino from US Palermo for £7.5m in 2015 and has gone on to make 179 appearances in all competitions, scoring 85 goals and making 18 assists. Belotti has been a regular under Moreno Longo this season, scoring nine goals in 23 Serie A games, but his form dipped since the turn of the year.

As per Transfermarkt, Belotti has scored just two goals in 2020, a brace in Torino’s 2-0 win over AS Roma, so Everton may have their doubts in a player without a goal or assist in three months. The Toffees don’t appear keen to match his €60m asking price.

With Oumar Niasse expected to be released this summer, Sandro Ramirez available for sale, Cenk Tosun out of favour and Moise Kean linked with a return to Italy, Everton need to offset the potential loss of strikers.

Hirving Lozano, Odsonne Edouard, Mario Gotze and Jonathan David are on the Blues’ radar, but it remains to be seen who they’ll end up with.
