‘Magnificent’, ‘Superb’ – some fans laud Everton defender after Manchester United win

|

Lucas Digne impressed for Everton in Sunday’s 4-0 win over Manchester United and was lauded by supporters on social media after the match. The 25-year-old got himself on the scoresheet with a brilliant volley from distance, netting Everton’s third goal of the game in the 56th minute, but he picked up an injury late on that threatens to end his season prematurely.

Against United, Digne made 67 touches, 31 passes with 81% accuracy, created two chances, whipped in nine crosses with 33% accuracy, won four aerial duels, had two shots and scored one goal, made seven clearances, three tackles and one interception. He’s been a regular at left-back for Everton all season and delivered on the big stage.

Digne has made a total of 34 appearances in all competitions since joining from Barcelona last summer, scoring (4) and creating (5) nine goals. The French international has made 60 chances and whipped in 254 crosses from left-back and is ending the season on a real high.

Everton are currently seventh in the Premier League with 49 points from 35 games, boasting four wins in their last five – three of which have come against Chelsea, Arsenal and United.
