Gylfi Sigurdsson starred as Everton enjoyed a surprise 4-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday, leading to praise from supporters on social media. The 29-year-old had a hand in two of the Toffees’ four goals on the day (goal + assist) and was named Man of the Match for his troubles.

Against the Red Devils, the midfielder played a full 90 minutes, made 54 touches, 32 passes with 72% accuracy, created four chances, whipped in 11 crosses with 18% accuracy, won one aerial duels, had two shots and scored one and he made two clearances.

Sigurdsson scored Everton’s second goal of the game in the 28th minute following a quick counter attack. He fired a long-range effort past David De Gea and the Toffees went into the break with a two-goal lead. In the second-half, the Icelandic international assisted the final goal of the afternoon.

He fed through Theo Walcott to close the scoring in the 64th minute, sealing a fourth league win in five for the Merseysiders. Marco Silva’s men have now beaten Chelsea, Arsenal and United in the last five weeks and are currently on course to finish seventh in the table.
