Everton now likely have a straight choice between either Marcelo Bielsa and Sean Dyche to become the next Everton manager, with the club wanting to appoint a manager within the next 48 hours, according to recent reports.
The toffees confirmed the sacking of former manager Frank Lampard on Monday evening after he left the club firmly in the relegation zone going into the second half of the Premier League season.
Going into the back end of the January transfer window, Everton needed to focus on bringing in the right type of players to benefit the squad, especially going forward.
However, they can no longer continue their search to sign some players until they appoint a new head coach.
Names such as Duncan Ferguson were thrown about to replace Lampard, but the Scotsman was, yesterday, announced as the new manager of League 1 side Forest Green Rovers.
According to Paul Joyce, Everton’s choice for their next manager is now down to just two candidates, Marcelo Bielsa and Sean Dyche. The Everton board want to appoint a new manager in the next 48 hours to give them time to bolster the squad and take some training sessions.

There is now only under 5 days until the January transfer window closes. With Anthony Gordon trying to force a move away from Goodison Park and Everton not even currently employing a manager, they could quite easily leave the window with a weaker squad than they entered it.
It is clear that the club need to sign at least two attackers before the window closes and they may also need to bolster their squad in other positions too.
