Lampard Posts Touching Everton Farewell

|

Frank Lampard has posted a touching goodbye message on his social media following his sacking earlier this week, thanking Evertonians for the welcome he received when he joined the club.

The 44-year-old was relieved of his duties on Monday after a horrendous run of results which have left Everton in 19th place in the league, with Sean Dyche and Marcelo Bielsa linked as potential replacements.

However, the former Chelsea boss was extremely well liked amongst Everton fans, developing a rapport with the Goodison crowd immediately after his January 2022 appointment.

Unfortunately however, it hasn’t worked out for Lampard at the Toffees, and the ex-England international took to his Instagram account to post a touching message to Evertonians.

Lampard posted, “Coming in to Everton last year I knew we were in a tough moment and I will always be proud of the incredible work and support from everyone involved to keep the team in the Premier League last season

“Thanks to everybody that played their part as the whole club came together. I will never forget the incredible night against Palace that we shared.

“I want to thank all Evertonians for the welcome that you gave to myself, my staff, and my family. It truly is a special club with a huge heart, and an incredible history.

“I’m disappointed that we couldn’t achieve more together and wish all the players and everyone at Everton FC the very best for the future.”

There is no doubt that Lampard inherited a mess when he accepted the Everton job, taking over as he did from Rafael Benitez last year, and the sale of key player Richarlison last summer left him with a squad even weaker than it already was.

While he has to take responsibility regarding the team’s performances, it is fair to say that the position we are in is not solely Lampard’s fault.

It is a shame it didn’t work out, but Everton need to focus on Premier League survival.

Nonetheless, Lampard is a class act and I wish him well for the future.
