Ghanaian World Cup star held conversation with Frank Lampard ahead of transfer

Look away Evertonians… well don’t actually look away. Have a read and then we can all have a collective sigh

Mohammed Kudus has opened up on his summer move to Everton, which collapsed because of Manchester United. Read more about that HERE

The Ajax midfielder who has played as an attacker so far this season for the Dutch champions has also been the standout performer for his national side Ghana in the World Cup scoring either side of half-time in yesterday’s 3-2 win over South Korea.

Kudus told Star Connect on YouTube :

“I was really close to joining Everton. I thought it was a good project for me and I felt I should try it. It wasn’t like this season was my first (at Ajax), it was my third. So if I’m not getting the progress I’m looking for, then why not try something else?

“I spoke to Lampard. I had a chat with him to find out the project they had for me, what he thought about me and how he saw me as a player, because definitely that would be the green light for me to decide whether I wanted to move. Without the coach, there is nothing.”

With Everton’s current issue in attack, it will remain unsure if Kudus was to be signed as an attacker in which he has played for Ajax and Ghana so far this season, or in his favoured position, midfield.

This season Kudus has 10 goals and two assists in 21 appearances for Ajax in all competitions and in the World Cup he has 2 goals and has been one of the stand-out players of the tournament so far.

With his current performances this season, Kudus could be added to the list of players that nearly became Everton players.

Would you like to see Lampard go for Kudus again in January or should we focus our attention elsewhere?
