Many Everton fans have been urging the club to finalise a deal for Toulouse midfielder Ibrahim Sangare, after Sport Mania claimed the Toffees ‘appreciate’ what the 22-year-old has to offer.

Marco Silva had proposed the idea of signing the Ivory Coast international to Director of Football Marcel Brands last summer, but the Dutchman’s efforts in negotiations with Le Tefece failed to secure Sangare’s signature.

Sangare was seen as the would-be replacement for Idrissa Gana Gueye after the Senegalese star’s move to Paris Saint-Germain, and has continued to thrive in France despite Toulouse sitting rock bottom of the Ligue 1 standings.

Everton are ‘especially’ aroused by Sangare’s performances this season, which have also sparked interest from Olympique de Marseille and a host of unnamed European sides due to the midfielder entering the final year of his contract this summer.

It is not suggested to what sum Toulouse would demand for Sangare’s services in the next transfer window, but Sport Mania describe him as Tefece’s ‘most expensive player’ and one destined to become a future great holding midfielder.

Brighton & Hove Albion are also said to have already offered Toulouse €20million (£16.6m), though Tefece President Olivier Sadran is yet to respond to the Seagull’s proposal.

Sangare has been dubbed as ‘the new Yaya Toure’ as the three-time international is ‘technically gifted’ and has an ‘imposing physique’ at 6 ft 3.

The 22-year-old has started 24 of Toulouse’s 26 Ligue 1 fixtures this term, in which he has recorded the fourth-most successful tackles (79/117) of any player to have featured in the French top-flight this term, per WhoScored data.

He also ranks first among all central midfielders in Ligue 1 for clearances (47), third for shots blocked (10), fourth for accurate long passes (89) and sixth for total passes (1,217), interceptions (37) and aerial duels won (44 of 66).
