Loads of Everton fans have been reacting on social media after Rovio, the Finnish video game developer behind Angry Birds, told Off The Pitch that they are “entertaining the possibilities” of extending their sponsorship deal with the club.

Rovio first partnered with the Blues in 2017 to become our first-ever sleeve sponsor, in a multi-year deal said to be worth £500,000 a season.

Those terms are set to expire at the end of the current campaign, though Rovio’s Marketing Director Kai Torstila has confirmed that the Finnish company would be interested in entering into another agreement with the Toffees.

Rovio have seen the current deal to be a “successful one”, as the presence of the Angry Birds logo on our kits has helped to raise the public awareness of the brand.

“While the original agreement expires at the end of this season, we’ve seen significant upsides with this partnership and are entertaining the possibilities of a continuation with the team,” Torstila told Off The Pitch.

“In addition, with the Premier League reaching one billion households globally, we also saw a significant media value upside. The nature of the Angry Birds brand within the Premier League created an unprecedented amount of media and social media interest.”
