Everton suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to Norwich City on Saturday and Gylfi Sigurdsson was one of many players to be criticised by supporters for his performance. The 30-year-old has been dropped on a handful of occasions recently, but he started over the weekend and once again failed to vindicate Marco Silva’s decision.
Sigurdsson also had a hand in Norwich’s second goal in injury time. He tried to tackle Emiliano Buendía and pass to Mason Holgate on the edge of the area but ended up gifting the ball to Dennis Srbeny who scored. After losing the ball, the Icelandic international watched Srbeny beat Everton defenders before finishing past Jordan Pickford and didn’t think to try and stop him.
Shocking display again, Norwich should be in front https://t.co/uyS6pl36lV Tosun and Walcott can be in ahead of Kean and Iwobi??? Sigurdsson missing again. Everyone can see this but Silva still sticks to same players/tactics. Plus Gordon should of had a run out today #EFC

Tosun and Sigurdsson should’ve been swapped for Iwobi and DCL from the start. I like Tosun but he just doesn’t bring enough. He is a great impact sub but Kean should be getting those minutes. With Richarlsion sometimes playing up top the position is saturated

Said it months & months ago – Sigurdsson will end up costing the manager his job – worst player I've ever seen in an Everton shirt. Obviously been unlucky with injuries in midfield, but you can't get away with him starting games. You're basically playing games with 10 men #EFC

Almost half an hour into the game and (shocker) I’m not really seeing the point of selecting Sigurdsson over Iwobi here. #EFC

I’d take Benni Beningime, Anthony Gordon and Moise Kean over Schneiderlin, Sigurdsson and Tosun every day of the week. #EFC

Silva's persistence with a winning line-up really isn't paying off at the moment. Tosun not offering a great deal up front & Sigurdsson hardly at the races either. Serious changes needed at the break #EFC

His performance didn’t go down well with supporters and could cost Silva his job. Everton are 16th in the Premier League table with 14 points from 13 games, having picked up just one win in four. Sigurdsson has featured in every league game this season, but he’s contributed only two goals and has fired blanks for two months.
Should Marco Silva drop Gylfi Sigurdsson?
Yes
No
The midfielder’s last league goal came in mid-October and his last assist came at the start of September.
