Simon Jordan has ‘Gone In’ on Everton for their lack of quality in recruitment in recent windows and also had some stern words for Frank Lampard following his side’s back-to-back defeats to Bournemouth in the last week.
In their last two matches, Everton have travelled down to the South Coast to face Bournemouth, first in the League Cup and then in the Premier League. However, neither fixture would go as planned for the toffees or the thousands of fans that travelled down to watch the games.
In the first match between the two sides, Bournemouth would end the match as 4-1 victors, whilst in the second match, the home side would again seal a convincing victory, winning the game 3-0.
Since the two fixtures, Simon Jordan has spoken to TalkSport about his views on Frank Lampard’s current situation:
“If Frank Lampard was the answer at Everton, I am not entirely sure what the question was”
He then goes on to question the blue’s recruitment over the summer:
“When you are signing players that Brighton don’t want, you’re looking at Dwight McNeil from a relegated Burnley and Demarai Gray who does it in flashes…”
“What are you expecting?”
“When you have got your centre-forward on the front page of GQ holding a hand bag, what do you expect?”
Everton’s recruitment during the summer was largely praised due to the amount that was spent on improving the defence and midfield, but even then there were questions being asked over the adequacy of their recruitment in attacking areas. However, due to their recent severe lack of goal threat, these questions are starting to gain traction.
