Simon Jordan, give your head a wobble

Former Crystal Palace chairman and current TalkSport co-presenter Simon Jordan has been speaking about Everton, Frank Lampard and made a very unnecessary comment towards Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

After back-to-back defeats away at Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup and Premier League, it has been a week to forget for Evertonians, and with the news that Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been playing with a dislocated shoulder and is now suffering from a knee and hamstring injury, he has also been the focus of Simon Jordan’s rant about Everton.

When talking about Everton, Jordan went on about the transfer business the blues have done in the summer saying,

“When you are signing players that Brighton don’t want, you’re looking at Dwight McNeil from a relegated Burnley and Demarai Gray who does it in flashes…”

“What are you expecting?”

Before adding

“When you have got your centre-forward on the front page of GQ holding a hand bag, what do you expect?”

Now, for Jordan to bring up Dominic Calvert-Lewin and what he does in his spare time is completely out of order and it feels like he is throwing in that comment because it is something he doesn’t agree with. So what Calvert-Lewin was on the cover of GQ magazine. What does that have to do with Frank Lampard and Everton!

In the summer Calvert-Lewin opened up about his struggles with mental health over the last year when he found himself out for a huge proportion of the season with injuries where he spoke about the most difficult time of his career and life adding,

“To all the young kings suppressing emotion I advise you to talk, to a friend, family member or someone that will listen, talking saved my life.” – SkySports

So, for Simon Jordan to throw in that unnecessary remark was below the line and uncalled for. Jordan is allowed his opinion on what goes on, on the pitch but for him to comment on someone’s personal life is disrespectful and disgusting. This is the same person who only in May 2021 was talking himself about mental health and some struggles he went through.

As mentioned at the start, Dominic Calvert-Lewin who dislocated his shoulder in the defeat away at Newcastle soldiered through the game and played the next three league games before going off with a hamstring injury. It would have been easy for Calvert-Lewin to go off injured at Newcastle, but after last year and the chance to represent England in the World Cup he played through the pain, showing his dedication and even getting on the scoresheet in Everton’s 3-0 win over Crystal Palace, which is why Jordan’s comments have not gone down well.

It has nothing to do with football and felt like an attack on someone he doesn’t even know, if he does know Calvert-Lewin then that is even worse and he needs to have a word with himself because his comments are extremely disrespectful.

If Calvert-Lewin can find the sort of form he hit before his injuries last season we all know how good he can be and hopefully with some nice warm weather training in Australia and time to rest and get over his current injuries we will see the best of Calvert-Lewin again after the restart of the Premier League on Boxing Day and the new year. Because we need him back!

I seem to remember Simon Jordan as a very bad chairman / owner of my team (Crystal Palace). As a person of very limited football knowledge, I find it interesting that he now regards himself as a football pundit. I often read of his Vast” experience in very controversial, nasty articles. I don’t think that I have yet read of a positive article offering praise to anyone.
Simon was a “Shit” chairman, and is now a ” Shit” pundit. But there and again there are a load of them!!!
