The EFL Trophy could be argued to be the least important of the domestic cup competitions in English football, but that doesn’t stop fans from being happy when their side does well in it.

And Everton fans were certainly feeling that last night after their U-21 side eased passed League One side Burton Albion in a comfortable 2-0 win to send the young Toffees to top of their group.
The fixture saw plenty of Everton’s promising youngsters take to the field against the Brewers that featured the likes of Anthony Gordon, Ellis Simms and Antony Evans shine for David Unsworth’s side in a fairly routine victory.
And supporters on social media were delighted to see the youngsters give a professional senior squad a good run out as well as walk away with all three points to their name.
