The EFL Trophy has had its critics over the past few years, but it is proving to be a good opportunity for youngsters for Premier League teams to get football against first-team sides.
Anthony Gordon is absolute class, I’d give him some minutes in the first team just to see what he can do

Yet one name, in particular, has caught the eye of Everton supporters, that being 18-year-old attacker Anthony Gordon, who impressed greatly against the Brewers last night as the teenager assisted the opening goal of the evening as well as be a constant stream of creativity and chances for the visitors.
And fans were impressed with what they saw, and supporters took to social media to praise the Liverpool-born prospect following his impressive outing.
Here is what some Everton fans had to say on social media about Gordon…

Defo deserves a chance in the first team. Ellis Simms will be there soon

Some supporters, though, don’t want the club to rush the youngster…
I would send him on loan in January to get him ready for next season

Prodigious talent but needs to be carefully nurtured

Gordon got a chance, but he must show it consistently in training to be given a chance. He's played Burton reserves tonight and unfortunately when playing for U23s, it is Conference League Standards. Get him on loan in the Championship playing competitive football.

Gordon has only managed one senior team appearance for the Toffees, that coming in the Europa League in 2017.
