Everton’s proposed move to Walton Hall has been scrapped.

Personally I always felt that the ambitious plans looked fantastic. It offered a perfect location for Everton and the regeneration plans would have benefited the city.

But instead Walton Hall Park will be untouched and designated as a no go area for development.

“(Walton Hall Park will) remain a park and will be designated as such’ Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson told the Echo.

Two other unnamed sites in the city are now being considered.

A joint statement from the council and Everton said: “Liverpool City Council and Everton Football Club can confirm they have been working together over recent months to investigate alternative plans for a new stadium for Everton Football Club.

“These new plans no longer focus on Walton Hall Park but on two other potential sites brownfield sites within the city boundary.

It’s not quite back to the drawing board, but to many Evertonians it will feel that way.

The only positive is that this is unlikely to be a new development for new major investor Farhad Moshiri and with his personal wealth, hopefully a new site and new plans can become a reality.
