According to a report by the Independent, Watford are not backing down over what they perceive as an illegal approach for Marco Silva by us last season.

The manager was the one we wanted to replace Ronald Koeman but instead we ended up with Sam Allardyce after the Hornets knocked us back.

From there they embarked on poor form and they’ve since claimed we were part of the reason for that – along with an ‘illegal approach’ for Silva.

Now, of course, we’ve got the Portuguese manager but his old side has registered a complaint with the Premier League and so this issue seems far from over at the moment.

The Verdict

Any chance of an agreement between the two clubs so far has gone by the way-side and I’d imagine this move from Watford pushes that back even further.

It rumbles on, then, but I think eventually things will be settled amicably – it’s just a matter of time.
