‘Such a shame’, ‘Looked a real talent’ – Many Everton fans react as 6 ft 1 ace linked with exit

Everton fans have seen a number of first-team members leave the Toffees this summer, with Phil Jagielka and Ashley Williams released, Nikola Vlasic sold to CSKA Moscow, and Jonjoe Kenny joined for FC Schalke 04 on loan.

In contrast, two names have arrived on Merseyside on permanent deals in Andre Gomes and Jonas Lossl, but it seems another name could be heading out of the Finch Farm exit door before the squad take to Goodison Park once more.

According to Football Insider, Brendan Galloway is in advanced negotiations with Luton Town over a potential permanent move to the Hatters, following their promotion to the Championship having won the 2018/19 League One title.

There was understood to have been a breakthrough in negotiations between the 6 ft 1 left-back and the Bedfordshire outfit toward the end of June, who are now looking to wrap up discussions with the Zimbabwe-born former England youth international.

It is claimed Luton have offered Galloway a long-term contract at Kenilworth Road, and the two parties were able to agree to personal terms earlier this week, which will see the defender reconnect with Graeme Jones, who worked with the left-back while a member of Roberto Martinez’s Everton backroom staff.

Despite having a year left to run on his Toffees contract, a source within the Blues has suggested Marco Silva has given the 23-year-old the green light to secure a summer switch and will not request a transfer fee for someone who joined the club in 2014.

There were high hopes that the MK Dons product could establish his presence in the Everton first-team when he moved to Merseyside, however a torrid loan spell with Sunderland saw Galloway frozen out of the Toffees senior squad last season.

Everton extending Leighton Baines’ contract for a further year is also said to have effectively signalled the end to Galloway’s Merseyside career, with the last of his 21 senior Blues appearances coming in January 2016 as a late substitute against Carlisle United in the FA Cup.

Here is how these Toffees supporters reacted to news of Galloway’s imminent departure…
