Brands aiming to strengthen Everton’s future with move for highly technical rising star – report

Everton Director of Football Marcel Brands is looking to strengthen the Toffees’ future talent pool by completing a move for Ajax wonderkid Hossein Zamani, according to Football Insider.

Zamani, born in Mashhad, Iran, is thought to be attracting the interests of some of Europe’s elite sides this summer, as his future no longer appears set to be in Amsterdam, having progressed through the Ajax youth system in recent years.

The former Netherlands U15 international, who holds dual citizenship with Afghanistan, is now considered to be one of the top emerging talents of the Johan Cruijff ArenA natives – who reached the Champions League Semi-Finals with a strong contingent of their academy graduates – thanks to is high technical ability on either wing.

There had been suggestions of a move to FC Utrecht this summer for the rising star, but Football Insider understand this is not the case due to the emerging interest from high profile sides – including Everton.

Zamani is said to be keen on leaving Holland for the Premier League this summer with his Ajax future uncertain, and plans to join a side where he will be able to continue his development.

Despite being expected to leave the club, Ajax hold the 16-year-old in high regard, and see the right-footed forward as having a big future ahead of him.

The natural left-winger has 43 appearances to his name in the Dutch U17 Eredivisie and Preliminary Rounds, in which he has scored six goals and been credited with one assist by TransferMarkt.

Brands securing Zamani’s services would certainly be a move with the future in mind, as it would be unlikely that the former Dutch youth international is ready for the physicality of the English game, and would be better served honing his trade under David Unsworth as part of our domestic double winning Under 23s.
