Report: Everton still ‘trying to offload’ striker in January but are ‘yet to receive any offers’

|

According to Phil Kirkbridge of the Liverpool Echo, Everton are still ‘trying to offload’ Oumar Niasse before the January transfer window shuts but have ‘yet to receive any offers’. The 29-year-old had the opportunity to join Nottingham Forest and Leeds United on loan but rejected both clubs as he didn’t want to play in the Championship.

Does Niasse deserve another shot at Goodison Park?

Yes

No

As things stand, Everton could be stuck with Niasse for another six months. The Senegalese international has made three appearances in all competitions this season, racking up a meagre 19 minutes of playing time. Niasse finds himself behind Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Moise Kean and Richarlison in the pecking order under Carlo Ancelotti and is out of contract in July.

Everton were hoping to make back some of the £16m spent back in 2016, but Liverpool Echo’s report suggests that won’t happen. The Toffees have one more week to offload Niasse, but it’s far more likely that he’ll see out the remainder of his contract at Goodison Park.

In four years at the club, Niasse has made 42 appearances and scored nine goals. The 29-year-old hasn’t scored for the first-team in 18 months, so it’s not hard to see why suitors aren’t flocking to sign him.
