Report: Everton outcast willing to accept £1m pay cut to leave

Cenk Tosun is expected to leave Everton this summer, but the Toffees could struggle to offload him due to his £20m asking price and £3.12m-a-year/£60k-per-week salary.

The Toffees paid £27m in 2018 for the 27-year-old, but Tosun has scored only nine goals in 18 months and lost his place under Marco Silva. Clubs could be put off paying so much money for an out-of-form player, which may require Everton and Tosun to lower their demands.

According to Sporx, Tosun is willing to do his bit by accepting a £1m pay cut to £40k-per-week to sign for his former club Besiktas. With the Everton centre-forward amassing only 131 minutes of Premier League football in the last three months of 2018/19, he needs to join a side willing to give him regular playing time.

Marco Silva has preferred Dominic Calvert-Lewin over Tosun due to the contrasting form of the strikers. Calvert-Lewin contributed 11 goals in all competitions while Tosun rippled the back of the net only once in the Premier League since October 2018.

The Turkish international has been made available for sale as he doesn’t have a future at Goodison Park, and for the player to accept less money to leave Everton suggests he’s resigned to his fate too.
